Belcombe Court is a stunning Grade I listed Georgian house on the outskirts of Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire. The 15th Century house was extended and improved in 1734 by John Wood the Elder, who was known for designing many of the finest buildings in Bath, such as The Circus and the North & South Parades.

The garden is registered Grade II* and was developed in the 18th Century in the neo-classical ‘Picturesque’ style. The original features surviving in the garden include a grotto, rotunda and a ruined ‘temple’ constructed during the same period as those at Stourhead. The four acres of landscaped gardens include lawns, an ornamental pond with Koi Carp, box and yew topiary and fine specimen trees.

Modern touches have been sympathetically introduced, with carefully placed sculptures, infinity pool and terrace, tennis court, a beautifully converted church barn, six acres of woodland walks, a shell house and a walled garden incorporating roses, grasses and fruit, with views extending across the valley. In early May the tulip display should be superb. This garden rarely opens to the public, so this is a treat for the DGT.

The garden visit is from 2.00 - 3.30pm and will include a guided tour.
